Due to Oppo rules and general laws of gentlemanship I'm not bothering to properly reference this phenomenon, but I still need to vent some steam out.

I wonder how does he do to spew that shit and return to Jalopnik to spew even more shit without feeling, in any way, depressed or traumatized. It's not like he has supporters: nobody likes him and everyone points out his immense pretentiosism and occasional mistakes. Also, someone make him stop hitting the same button. Nobody really gives a fuck about the immense piles of material he's quoting and linking, and I'm surprised that he actually thinks people will read them.

I was reading that laughing my ass off, guy is a total fucking tool. No shit a car from 67 isn't going to handle as well as a modern car, or a car from 20-30 years ago. I would also expect that car to run away from some lower end porsches in the straights (the gen 1 boxster ran the 1/4 in like low 15's).

I've come to appreciate Toby. Even engage him, but I know when, and it's when I can absolutely speak to the subject on my own, or when I am looking to be schooled on a subject. I know a few engineers like him. But my best friends are all rather direct folks. I appreciate that in a person, I just like a bit of discretion to be a skill they have as well. =)

I made the mistake of arguing with him once. Never again. He will go on foreverrrrrrrrrr, and you'll hear about his Mechanical Engineering credentials more times than anyone not considering him for employment should have to. I wonder if the dean wrapped his degree around Mjolnir before handing it to him, because that's how he wields it, and it's so off putting.

I had a fun exchange on the air-powered Lego car article, where I talked about the merits of potential energy powered air compressors, which he never responded to, strangely.

My favorite is "I have an engineering degree." Anyone I've ever heard use that as some sort of appeal to ethos brought it up because they have no other recourse and are probably wrong. And congrats, I know a lot of engineers I wouldn't trust to fill a grocery sack properly.

I know exactly who you're talking about. His insistence on being right 100% of the time doesn't rankle my feathers that much, but it's his assertions of intellectual superiority that really grind my gears.

Damn near all of his comments involve him going on about how amazing his 4th-gen Camaro Z28 1LE was, how his C6 Grand Sport and its seats were trash and pale in comparison to both of the Mk6 GTIs that he's leased, how he's a 50-year-old mechanical engineer with patent(s) to his name, and/or how any older car under discussion pales in comparison to a new V6 Accord.
